Clearly not eligible for gift cards.
Great offer still though. They have 25% off kcups and I really needed some. Got 194, 4 red pilot g2 pens, and 2 jugs of white out for $76. I talk bad about amex, and BCE in general but sometimes the offers are awesome. The $30 back phone one was great too.
I agree that e-Gift cards might (?) be a problem, but the other reference is for gift cards in bulk purchases:
- Not valid for e-gift card purchases. Not valid for gift cards in bulk purchases. Offer not valid on online orders that are placed in-store through sales associate.
I understand this to say that regular gift cards (single, physical cards) are fine. There's one way to find out for sure, though, and in a few weeks I'll be able to report back either way.
I'll also add that in the past with Newegg, Hulu, etc. a e-gift card purchase did trigger the promo, and if I'm not mistaken the language was the same. I don't have an old screen shot to reference, though, since the process was seamless.
Somebody beat me to it:
From Doctor of Credit:

A bit off-topic. But I wonder which GC may give me best resell value if want to sell it to SaveYa or similar place. The highest I can think of is Target.
I'm glad I could share with you guys. I also read the fine print & understand e-cards/bulk gift card purchase are excluded.

It has worked for me flawlessly in the past & no reason to see otherwise. I will report back my findings...
I promised I would follow-up with my experience on this Amex Offer...
My BCP just dropped a statement (meaning I'm now on next month) so I gave the Staples Amex offer a whirl. I purchased a $100 eBay Gift Card with electronic (email) delivery.
A minute of so after my order was placed, I received the following email:
From past experience, once I get this message it's pretty much a 'done-deal' as long as the transaction posts.
FWIW other websites state that the only time there's a problem is if you buy an actual 'Staples' gift card (as in, for use at Staples) which makes sense if you think about it. This offer is for Staples online purchases, and if Staples GCs were allowed to qualify it would be a way to effectively circumvent the online restriction.
Awesome!
Love $25 credit on GCs!
All this discussion led me to their webpage.
This was interesting.
"Staples DOES NOT sell more than $2000 of gift cards in any order due to Federal anti-money laundering regulations."
Not that I'm going to buy that much anyway, but it helps figure out what they're watching out for, definitely

I noticed that promintly (and repeatedly) on their site as well... it's a problem I would love to have!
(To clarify, I would love to have the extra money to buy $2k+ gift cards, not a problem with the Feds... LOL)
Love these offers - I have used a ton on my BCP!
Also, my partner just apped for and got a Simply Cash (30K limit and $250 bonus).... will that card have these kinds of offers available as well?
I cashed in earlier on a $100 Target giftcard. Got the email right after about my offer being used. Going to load that to Target and get 5% off a Disney giftcard. Win win for me!
