Amex PC - Platinum to PRG

More interesting than it may sound...

About 2 weeks ago, I PCed my regular Gold charge to a Platinum, with a targeted PC offer of 25k MR points after $2k in spend within 90 days. Earned the bonus quickly, bonus posted following day.

Also used the $200 airline fee credit.

With the $450 AF due to post soon, I thought I'd take a shot at a PC again to PRG, and it was approved! The chat rep promised me they would not confiscate my points or my $200 airline credit I'd already received.

It seems I've been allowed quite a dip into Platinum benefits while escaping the fee.

Lucky me, and thanks, Amex Smiley Happy

Congrats but I'd be really surprised if they don't take back their points and airline credit.

Congrats, OP and thanks for sharing.

Lets watch this space to see if it sticks Smiley Happy

Thats a quick turn, and I would see a high probability of either the Platinum AF remaining (given the new terms) or the points returned. But that's just idle speculation for now.

Re: Amex PC - Platinum to PRG

I received the same offer and was wondering if anyone can confirm if you  an additional $200 travel credit? I have a PRG with an offer to go to the Platinum but didn't know if I would receive an additional $100 credit to use until 31 Dec or if I would receive an additional $200.

Credit Union MC - $1500 / Discover IT - $2900 / Citi TYP- $3000 / BestBuy Store - $1400 / Amazon Visa- $1800
Amex Hilton Surpass- $20,000 / Barclay Arrival+ WEMC - $5,000 / Chase CSP - $11,800 / Chase Freedom - $5,800
Citi Thank You Premier - $5000 / Chase Marriott - $10,000 / Amex Delta Gold - $5,000 / Amex PRG - NPSL

Citi Hilton- $13,500 (AU) / Sears MC (AU) / Exxon Mobil (AU)

Re: Amex PC - Platinum to PRG

Congrats on PC, but......

IMO, I would of applied for PRG 50k get $100 airline credit in 2016 and then again in 2017 before the annual fee and take my chances in 2017 on Platinum card benefit changes and have $200 airline credit in 2017 for a net cost of $250.  The PRG credit would have carried the cost of the Platinum.

Personal Cards: Amex Plat | Amex Delta Res | CSR | Citi AA Exec Business Cards: Ink+ | Amex BGR
