Congrats!  The ED would be a good pair for Membership Rewards, but you may want to look at your spend and see if the $95 AF EveryDay Preferred (EDP) makes more sense.  If you swipe 30 times or more per month it's a 50% bonus on points (vs 20% bonus for 20 swipes on ED)!  3x (vs 2x) at supermarkets and 2x for gas.  That could easily offset the annual fee.

ended up applying for the Everyday card and was approved straight away, they have given me a 15k limit which was more than I expected. 

 

Happy with all the end results.

About Amex and poor credit scores
I got the everyday card at 630
I got the platinum at 670
