Amex Special Offers

I was just looking around on the amex site and saw where you can see amex offers.....I'm in the garden but I wanted to look. It asks for the last 4 digits of my ss. Are they going to pull credit? I was scared to enter my info without knowing first.

They most likely will if you don't have any current offers from them.  They may pull credit to see what you qualify for..

Its Absolutely safe for you to look. The MOST they would do is a SP on your CR. It ABSOLUTELY will NOT effect your score at all. Go ahead and take a peek Smiley Wink

Re: Amex Special Offers

Preselectors are soft pulls if any pull at all. Amex is a bit of an oddball as most ccc preselctors explicitly say on the pages that checking will not affect your credit, but if I remember correctly amex uses slightly different language. At any rate they won't hp you for checking for special offers, otherwise no one would use feature which would be counterproductive for Amex.

Re: Amex Special Offers

I wonder what would happen if I did preselector so soon after opening accounts? (I'm not going to test but curious)

"otherwise no one would use feature which would be counterproductive for Amex."

I have less faith in people and think that plenty of people would still use it, and unknowingly, hurt their credit. That's probably why the preselector doesn't HP.

Overall, I think you have your answer. Amex preselector never works for me though. I enter my info and then the page never moves. I have tried 4 different Internet browsers and even old addresses.

OP, I hope you have more luck than me.

In My Wallet: Amex BCP (12/12) $32,000, Chase Freedom (12/12) $16,500, Citi Forward (12/12) $14,600, Cap1 Quicksilver (6/12) $14,000, Barclaycard Rewards (5/13) $10,500, Citi Thank You Premier (6/15) $6,800

I apped without any preselected offers and got both zync (NPSL) and delta. If you already in Amex family then go for it.
