Amex Spending Ability vs. Amex Revolver CL

Just curious as to the relationship between ppl's spending avail on their Amex charge cards vs. the CL on their Amex revolvers? I'm guessing the spending limit on the charge cards would be higher?

Citi Thank You $13,200 - Chase Freedom $3,100 - AMEX Zync NPSL (init. ability $17.5K) - Citi Forward $7,000 - AMEX BCP $6,000 - USAA Rate Adv $15,000 - USAA World MC $12,000 - Discover More $4,000 - Amex Hilton Honors $4,500 - Amex SPG $2,000 - Barclay's Priceline Rewards $6,400 - Chase Sapphire Pref. $7,500

Re: Amex Spending Ability vs. Amex Revolver CL

No relationship: credit limit reflects how much they think you can safely borrow and pay back over time, spending limit reflects how much cash they expect you to have on hand at any given time. Example: I have a Hilton Surpass with 1k limit and have spent as much as 12.6k on a single zync transaction, with an average monthly spending of 5k.

In wallet: Ink Plus 10k, AMEX TE 25k. In bag: CSP 16k, USAA WMC 15k, Hyatt 13k, United MPE 12k, AMEX HHonors 3k. In SD: Cap 1 QS 5k, Discover IT 7k. FICO 08 says my EQ is now 844, was 510 in 2010.

I average from 7 - 10k a month on my Amex and recently charged $22,000 without a hiccup.  I'm sure there's some sort of algorithm that looks at a soft pull, utilization, previous payment history, previous monthly volume, etc.

Re: Amex Spending Ability vs. Amex Revolver CL

My BCE just got CLI to 19.5K. I had a zync closed it and opened the PRG charge.  I don't know what the spending ability is because I've never tried hitting the button to see. I have faith that I could buy anything that I can afford so I just charge what I want. Believe me when I say I have never charged anything around 19.5K in a month on a charge card. So I doubt there's much of a correlation.
