UPDATE: I called Amex about the 2011/2012 date thing and they fixed it. They said that they are sending me a new card (because I guess they already sent one with 'member since 2012' on it? lol. The CSR said that for some reason the system bumped the date up, which makes no sense.
Happy New Year everyone

Denied Zync Nov 2011.... Bah humbug!
I was also denied for the Zync in November 2011...but I didn't know it was a charge card; I don't want a card that has NPSL...
Glad you got it corrected!
Yay - I too was just instantly approved for Zync, my first Amex They gave me a toy $250 line to see how I'll do, but I'm happy to get my foot in the door. My paperwork also says member since 2012...hopefully a phone call will fix that! How are they with line increases?
Okay...gardening until at least July (then perhaps a Sapphire card??)

The $250 is a temp credit line. Once you receive your card and activate you will have a no preset spending limit!
Neat - thanks for the info!
Quick question.. I applied for the Zync on 12/29 and was instantly approved. However, I did it over the phone-- thus never got a temp account # which I guess is the norm.
I had the same issue as a few others who just applied ( CSR said my account is or will be dated as 2012). I had hoped to apply next January for BCE and get it backdated to 1/2011 but customer service wasn't too helpful with the membership date and kept transfering me from one department to another. Got no answer.
Is membership date the date your application is approved or when you open your account/activate the card? If its the later is their anyway to get them to make it 12/2011?

I don't know, but I applied the exact same date (12/29). When I called the main CSR line, I told the guy that my membership date was wrong, that it said 2012 but I opened my card this month (in 2011). When I applied online, I was instantly approved and given a temporary card #, and have already used the account (again, prior to 2012). When I first explained that it was the wrong date, he said something along the lines of the computer system bumping the year up, so I asked if it could be fixed? He put me on hold for a long time, and then said that it could. This was only a few hours ago, it hasn't been changed online yet. If it's still 2012 in a few weeks, I'll call back.

I signed up for the home pack, it was $15 but you get a $20 gift card to Lowes (which we'll use no question). Does anyone else have the home pack? Has anyone run into hidden gotchya surprise fees with the Zync packs? Also, when I log in, it says 'member since 2012' even though I opened the account and can view the account online today (12/29/11). I was hoping it would say 2011 Bummer. Thought that was interesting..anyone else deal with that?
I also recently applied for Zync. I already had Clear and Blue Cash Preferred and just wanted to throw a charge card into the mix without raping myself with an annual fee in the process. I'll pay $25/year and just think of it as a fee for access to Money Manager (which is a pretty cool tool!)
Zync Packs can be removed at any time. If you cancel a pack within 60 days of adding it to your card, you automatically get a full refund for it. After 60 days, a pro-rated refund is automatically generated. There's nothing to lose in trying out a new pack.
I initially went with the Home pack but changed my mind less than 24 hours into it. All of my spend will remain on my Blue Cash Preferred as it's just a better rewards system in my opinion (I can engineer it for as much as 6% cash back at Lowe's). I went online and canceled that Zync pack and within a couple days a refund of the $15 fee was automatically applied to my account. I'm guessing when they actually manufactured my card, Home got added back on. I was charged another $15. I was able to remove the pack again, and was again given a $15 credit. It hasn't happened again.
Around the same time my physical card arrived in the mail, I got a Zync Pack welcome kit that included a $20 Lowe's gift card, as per the pack terms. A couple days later, a second one arrived. Based on that, it seems those are shipped out the same day the Home pack is added. I have not used the cards, nor even checked to see if they are still valid. I assume so.
I have since called in to have ExpressPay added to my Zync; that didn't trigger another re-enrollment in Home.
Finally, it's not clear from the promotional materials online, but I guess you can have as many packs as you like. The initial application lets you add up to four, but I had five on my Zync at one time when that second enrollment in Home happened.
