Based on messages I've read on TOBB (or TOMB!)....it could be so.  Insider info indicated that a return could be in the works...and it would be a first, I think.  Return of a so-called dead card.  Or...maybe it was not dead at all!  Maybe...just maybe...it was a part of AMEX's nefarious plot to get us all worked up on the Return Of The Zync ! ! !

I can confirm that I just received my Zync with an EMV chip. Looks like this unicorn's not dying anytime soon! Still skeptical of them bringing it back though...

Personally, I travel to Brazil at least annually and have found some merchants refuse to process magnetic stripe cards. I plan to use my EMV card in these cases. Otherwise, it's usually better to use a different card with no FTF.
