You're worried about an F/R for GAS? Yet you want to "have a lot of money go through it"? And you think it's not ok to spend some money because you want to spend a lot of money?
Dude. I don't know if you're ready for credit, after seeing your past 1.5 month of posts of ~15 posts a day. You question wanting to app for something else nearly every day, you are afraid of adverse actions just for using your card for normal everyday stuff (which the cards are meant for)... I just don't know.
Really, nothing to worry about, unless you plan on spending several thousand on gas in the span of a couple of days...
Ive put many FR related things through platinum the first month I got it. The way I see it is if they deny a charge, Chase will gladly accept it. I dont worry about a FR.
I use mine everywhere.
Ron.
I think we, collectively, have become way too paranoid about F/R's. I'll admit that I'd be irriated if I had to fill out some sort of forms and send them to Amex. But having dealt with all sorts of bureaucratic nonsense before (not the least of which has been with Homeland Security/USCIS and the FBI NICS VAF), I really have no problem submitting the documents to them if they REALLY want it that badly.
Plus I just mailed my tax documents to my accountant last week, so he should have them all prepared by the time Amex tries to FR me. Most of what I'm using my Zync for right now is reloading my Starbucks card - so hey, if they're that worried about me buying coffee, I guess they can review my finances.
Bottom line, I don't think we should worry about getting FRed that much. And if you're that opposed to it.. just don't get an Amex card. It's not like we can't live without them.

Not in my experience. Just charged an entire vacation to HI and back. Not even a phone call from them.

ok thanks.... i guess theres really no rhyme or reason why amex does a F/R
Only thing to worry about is if you lied on the app. If not, just carry another card with you whereever you go and dont worry about it.

+1
I'd suggest this in general, not just with Amex. Never rely on just one card, you never know when something's gonna happen (FR with Amex, BofA throwing a hissy fit, whatever). I have 3 CCs (NFCU, Discover, Amex) and a debit card in my wallet, just in case.
Granted, it would suck if I lost my wallet or it got stolen, but I just don't trust any bank enough to have only ONE credit card in my wallet. If I was taking a trip - especially overseas - I'd probably bring all my major credit cards with me. I'd rather lose one/have it stolen and have to contact the CCC for a replacement than get stranded somewhere.
