I recently, and quite easily, got my new Amex card backdated to the date of my first card with Amex, yet my CR shows the recent opened date. I thought they will report the member since date and it will increase your AAoA. That doesn't seem to be the case for me.

Amex no longer does that. It is DEAD.

They stopped doing that. If I were to guess, the CRAs probably didnt like it, as it is false information being provided to them.

As the others have mentioned, Amex stopped backdating to the CRAs for any account that first reported (not opened) as of March 21st. I would not expect this policy to change.

Well, on the upside OP, your cards will have a consistent MSD displayed

And, as others mentioned already, effective since March of this year, no more backdating on CRAs.
