Amex bce cash back?

Hi guys I just redeemed 50$ cash back for the first time and I just did it real fast. I'm confused as to what happens now. I believe it was a statement credit but my balance is at zero so how does that work. Sorry if this is the wrong spot

You'll have a $50 credit showing just like if you returned an item.  If you requested cash back, it will show online as a credit in a few days.

I've done that a few times. My balance shows up as a negative amount within a day.
