Amex bce sd or not to sd for a new amex

I'm thinking maybe I should SD my amex bce and app for a new amex. My current spend is as follows:
Amex bce: Costco (where most of my groceries come from other than my garden Smiley Happy ), catch all
Freedom: rotating category, catch all
Discover more: rotating category/six flags Smiley Happy
PenFed: gas(small category for me, I drive ~7500mi/ year in a car that averages 35mpg)
Barclay arrival +: soon to be catch all card(whenever the postal service gets it to me)
Red card: big ticket target trips, otherwise sock drawer
Is it a good idea to app spg or possibly Hilton honors amex and shift my Costco spending that direction? Worth the hard pull....
FICO: 782(Ex, AMEX 8/12), Mortgage Pull(3.0%, 5/1 ARM from Local CU 2/2013): 725(EX), 757(TU), 772(EQ); 775(EX, Amex 8/14)
Cards: Amex BCE(10300), Discover(7000), Target (1000), PenFed Platinum Rewards Visa (8500), Chase Freedom(5000), Barclay Arrival+ (10000), Amex HHonors Surpass(11,800)
App'd: Barclay & Hhonors Surpass Aug 2014, PenFed & Freedom Feb 2013, Amex & Target Jul 2012, Discover Feb 2008 Gardening til ???
Goals: TBD, possibly a mortgage refi to a fixed rate or better adjustable

Unless you mainly plan on using Costco for gas (and that'd really only be 3% versus the 2% on your BCE), I'm actually not sure where Costco would fit into your spending.    It's the same rewards as you'd get inside Costco as on the BCE.  Could be a decent dining card when Freedom doesn't have restaurants.   How do you plan on using it?

Oh...re-read.   If this is a replacement for your BCE spending, then it might work out well.  BCE would really only be better at department stores or if you grocery shop outside Costco.

Re: Amex bce sd or not to sd for a new amex

Yes to replace my BCE since my grocery spend outside Costco is negligible. Honestly less than 10% of my gas comes from Costco as I'm more of a massive stock up every six weeks costcoer than a trip 2-4x month as its not particularly close to me. I'm debating whether its worth the HP to switch it up/if I'm approaching a total credit limit to income(darn close to equal) at which I might end up FR or aa/cld if I open a new card.

If your credit report can handle it why not have both ? It could be very beneficial if you can back date your second card an few years. I am actually going to something similar. I am going to probably downgrade my BCP to BCE , and it will be on back up duty when i get SM. I will probably apply for ED sometime down the road, since it will pad my aaoa dramatically. Like it would incrase my aaoa 2x lol .

That's why I just got my Costco, to bolster my AAoA (MSD 1998) and keep the new auto loan from dropping it too much.

i am waiting for amex to throw me an PRG offer so i can probably get EDP with that card. One pull and it will do really nice things to my AAOA lol. My MSD is 1995, so it would help an lot. I may hold off on applying for anything new till i can get 50k offer for prg. I am trying to be patient.

Re: Amex bce sd or not to sd for a new amex

I went for it on Monday and got an instant approval but never a confirmation email nor is it showing up in my amex online account. Probably need to give amex a call. I decided to go hhonors surpass as I have an upcoming stay at an embassy suites plus my parents have a thing for Hampton Inns when I travel with them.

Re: Amex bce sd or not to sd for a new amex

Spoke too soon amex apparently took it upon themselves to next day air ups me the card ^.^ They also moved my limits around I've only got a 10k bce instead of 19k and got 11k on the new card. Fine by me tbh I can't think of a time I'd need to put 11k+ on a card in a single charge :/
