Amex denied me!! UPDATE and TELETRACK?

So on 6/30/12 applied for the Amex Blue when I should not have, but the good news is that now I know what my Experian fico is ...trying to be posiive. My Fico scores are TU- 743, EX - 736, and EQ- 689 (Have an old 5 1/2 year old collection I heavily dispute but gave up on its removal). Kinda bummed but knew going in that I would be denied with inquiries and 2 new accounts within last 6 months. Knew I did not have a chance, but was hoping..lol.

how many inquires played a factor in that denial

especially with an EX score of 736

I had 8 inquiries prior to the app. Now I have 9!!

Sorry to hear that they declined you ~ what were the reasons listed on the denial letter ?

I have not received the denial letter but I had called to check the status since online it said declined but when I click on it it said application could not be accessed at this time. I don't remember everything he said but I heard high revolving balances (I am at about 20% ) not enough established history or something like that, too many inquries..think he said in last 12 months, and high balances on loans (I have student loans in deferment- guess that counts against me?) . I also think he said too many new credit cards.

What does AAoA look like.  What are ages on credit cards?

Yep sounds like you added too many accounts in too short of a time.

Its about 2 years but I think it figures in loans, etc. I am quite new to credit really. Amazon store - 1 year, Cap one/HSBC mastercard will be 6 months this month, Amazon Visa is about 4 months, Chase freedom...not even a month old..lol. I also have a fingerhut account that is 18 months old but they don't report to Experian.

AMEX revolving cards have more stringent approval requirements than their charge cards.......you could always start with a charge card like ZYNC and then app for Blue in a few months.....

FICO scores are not all that is considered by AMEX, or any other lender for that matter.  A 743 score is good, but if the history isn't there, particularly with companies who use additional internal scoring systems, then I'm afraid you'll have to wait a while.  Give what you already have another year to age with good payment history to age a bit, and I'm sure you'll eventually get it.
