I got the SPG the one month ago and also haven't seen a hard pull show up.
Yeah I noticed I didn't get a HP when I applied for BCE last week. I had an Amex SkyMiles card sent to collections 10 years ago.
I wonder how they are processing decisions without HPs?
A HP when I apped and was approved for a BCE mid April. A second HP when I apped and was approved for a Delta Gold 10 days later.
Got my AMEX BCP on 4-21 and got a HP. My first AMEX card
App'd and got the ED. No HP same day
App'd the PRG next day and got declined and recieved HP #2
App'd the Simply Cash small business card on 5-1 and got approved. HP #3

Not sure. Maybe they saw the number of inquiries I have and thought I was collecting them and decided to give me a few more? lol
I wish I were that lucky! I have 3 Amex cards, and I took a HP for each card. The pulls were as follows:
May 2016: HP for Amex ED
October 2016: HP for Hilton HHonors Amex
March 2017: HP for Schwab Investor Amex
I can't even say that I have lots of inquiries or low scores with Experian. I currently have 4 HPs on Experian with a score of 738. My score was 720 when I got my first Amex.
Perhaps my flaw was electing for cobranded cards?

As far as I am aware, they get the same information either way but a hard pull denotes that you were applying for credit, whereas a soft pull is only visible to you and not shared with other lenders. To me, the new account sting is far worse than a HP, but it's nice when it works out that way. The approvals for existing cardholders have indeed had data points on both sides, but from anecdotal evidence here they have mostly been no HP recently. Declines for existing cardholders have traditionally not caused a HP, but there have of course been exceptions. When personal cardholders have applied for a business card, it seems to always be a HP.
@darkfrosty wrote:So I know if you have an amex and want to apply for a new card they dont hard pull for a denial but if you get approved they hard pull. I have all my reports frozen and I just applied for a platinum and it went through and was approved. Do they just SP now if you are already a card member ? Ive gotten no alerts about a HP which when I have applied in the past I got the notification right away.
Hoping and praying that is the new norm, it just happend to me like 2 days ago. I already had 2 cards and apped (after seeing I had offers) for 2 additional cards. Instant approval and so far no alerts. My reports are frozen as well.
