Another Amex 3x CLI Question.

I'm getting ready to do the Amex 3x cli next month, over the past 6 months I have used the card consistently and must have charged and paid off 20K on a 7200 limit while carrying a balance of 3-4K monthly.

When I go for the 3x should I bring the balance to $0 or or leave 2-3K on it? A higher cli would be nice to pad my utilization and I wont have to pay 4 time a month or more to being the balance down.

There is no evidence that it matters one way or the other on a six month CLI request. Unlike the first bite at the apple, Amex now has some solid history on which to base the decision.

I had a balance of about $500 when going from $3k to $9k instant approval. Was using heavily, PIF every month, always showing an open balance but never paid interest up to then.

There was a comment a few months back, someone was denied the 3x and they think it was from having a cash advance open at the time. Other than that, as long as you are making large payments to keep up with the charge rate, should be no issue.

I applied for amex last month, SL was $5k.... I requested the 3x CLI a couple days later (hadnt even receieved my card) and was approved for $15k
