Hello Everyone,
I am in New Orleans on a short vacation and just checked my CAP 1 M/C and see that - at some time since last week - they have given me a $1500.00 CLI. This is my second such increase in a month. I have had a $1000.00 CL for about two years until now, and I have called repeatedly over the past year about CLIs and was always declined. Interestingly, I have a Visa with them, which as been at $1800.00 for more than two years. Who knows, maybe they will move me up too.
This comes at a good time since HSBC - the only card in my pocket at the moment (Disc.) - is causing me a headache. I used my card at the casino two nights ago, and called yesteday just to get a balance and found out that they put a fraud protection block on my card. I cannot even log in online to pay my bill. I spoke with a CSR, but because they asked me questions that do not pertain to me, I cannot get the answers correct. This has happened before where Walmart denied me credit because of these questions and it turned out that at least one question they asked me was about the address of someone I dated 14 years ago. I thought I had clear all of that up, but maybe still her new or previous addresses are still showing up, and I have no idea what is what.
I am so not in a mood to take this on again, but I know I will have to once I get back home. The good news is that I can make a balance transfer from my HSBC M/C, which I just cut up - and I will just let it sit there with a 0 balance until HSBC decides what they want to do with it. I love Cap 1!
were these online casino or in person?
This was at Harrahs in New Orleans. Spoke with two reps again and all they did was ask me the same security questions, which I could not answer. I told them that if I did not know the answers on Tuesday, I would not know them on Thursday since the questions do not pertain to me. It is a mess I have to deal with in the morning. I will call a local HSBC, the only problem is that in the past when I tried to even pay my bill at HSBC, they did not even take the payment since my cards are those that, I guess, were previously issued by Mechant's Bank. I will call and see if there is a manager who can help me out somehow.
The curse of LexisNexis strikes again...
I did that once with an HSBC credit card and I don't know for sure but I think it had a negative impact on me receiving CLIs because after that I couldn't get not one CLI from them.
They called me the day after, it was a representative and he asked if it was authorized I said yes... HSBC watches casino transaction VERY closely.
Needless to say I wont so much as order a drink or use an ATM at a casino anymore, I make sure to carry cash.
