Re: Any Reason Not to App for Discover?

Called.  The app was hung up because apparently one of the four CC accounts that were IIB'd in 2002 belonged to a bank that was acquired by Chase somewhere along the line.  She asked a few questions about that account, said she was able to continue processing the application, and that I will be notified of a decision in 7-14 days.

It was worth a shot.

Re: Any Reason Not to App for Discover?

i honeslty think your gonna get approved for the card. i think you can call them either tomorrow or first thing monday to find out the status of the app.  i think you technically have to be denied (which you aren't yet) first before you can do a recon, but you def need to call one of those days to to find out the status, just in case you are denied you can actually do a recon and have someone manuelly review you credit report and they can reverse the decison. if rejected i strongly suggest doing the recon, chase is usually really good with these. thats what i had to do to get me card:smileyhappy:

Re: Any Reason Not to App for Discover?

Consulting my BK records, this is an old Providian account they are finding.

I did check the automated status line again after I posted my previous update and it still gives the "within two weeks" message, so no flat-out decline yet.

I'd imagine that's something that varies from one locality to another.  I have come across a number of places that don't have AMEX displayed as an accepted payment type (only Visa & Mastercard) but when handed my AMEX they take it without hesitation.  I do always keep my BB&T Visa with me as backup, but it's never really been a problem.

The reason for this is:

AMEX charges a larger transaction fee to mearchants over the other 3. So merchants would rather you pay for your items with the other cards but will not refuse AMEX if you pull it out so they do not miss a sale.

Quite scandalous but I understand...........:smileyvery-happy:
