I can recon all day long, but in the end Id be declined for past relationship (my BK is only 3 yrs post DC), and tons of new accts and INQ...if they didnt state the BK, it would be for the latter. But, I always recon denials...so I will.
From my experience, I included citi in a BK from 2003 and was always denied citing bankruptcy. I guess if you have a bankruptcy on your file and didnt include citi, there would be several factors that would go into them approving you or denying you. I know pizza has signifigant experience talking with Citi and her advice is solid. With all the factors that go into approvals/denials... we cant get every detail right and shouldnt base on our judgement on others advice but use it as a guideline.

I included Discover and Citi in BK-13 2007, was approved 12/2015 with $1500 CL, the same with discover Miles with $1500 limit
Chapter 13's and 7's are completely different, and I think lenders see it differently too since in a 13 lenders get paid back, in a 7 the debts are completely resolved. Plus, your BK is older, and off your reports now too. Congrats to you on your success on getting those lenders back! Its a tough battle sometimes!

I had a 750 a few months ago with BK reporting. My score dropped a little below that with 2 new accounts. My transunion has been at 748 for a couple months. No idea what my Equifax is.
Definitely possible to go above 720 with BK reporting! Can confirm more than possible. My EX was 747 with a 2009 BK reporting but otherwise clean and 10% overall utilization. I went on an app spree and dropped my score to 717 now though.
I added
Citi HHonors 10k CL
Citi Simplcity 4.9k CL
Wells Fargo Visa 12k CL
Discover 7.5k CL
Venture 20k CL
Thats awesome, and again for date points.....you didnt IIB citi, and youre at 7 yrs post....Congrats to you!
I think that Pizza was simply trying to save the 99% that will be declined from wasting time and a HP. There are ALWAYS exceptions such as the few on this board who have been approved but most of the time the rules apply!
i've just been approved for the card with 4k SL. i have a 5 year 3 month old discharged BK-7. i've tried in the past to get other cards from citi always denied due to BK.
approved with this card with lots of new accounts and roughly 20 inqs due to recently joining NFCU and getting a few products with them.
EDIT - Turns out it was chapter 7 i filed. my wife reminded me after i posted.
By my count that would make you the 4th person approved (responding to this link) with a BK showing. Would note that yours was after 5 yrs and Chap 13.
Starting to look like 5 years post d/c if they were not IIBK. Shmacckk was also approved 5 years and 2 months post Chap7 d/c. Pattern?
Puts them in line with AMEX.. Coincidence?
I am looking at applying for a Costco Visa as I plan on buying a tv there next month.
My credit score is 650. Chapter 11 was discharged in 2005. I currently have a tax lien I have not missed a payment on in 4 years. I also have a 700 a month car payment I havnt missed a payment on since mid 2012. I filed for 135k this year. I also will have a full term loan paid off next week with no late -payments I took from my local credit union for 2000 over 18 months.
My BK wasn't affiliated with Citi but had to do with taxes and divorce lawyers.
I have one one credit inquiry in the last 6 months. It was on January 22. Denied on a home loan. My credit was to low for Chase.
I am wondering what my chances of getting approved on this card are.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I would say no not due to the BK but due to having a low score and thin file.
