Yes

In addition, if you wait to app until the CLI actually hits your credit report you might get a higher starting CL from citi.

+1!!!!! true dat! That's a big concern too. I feel like while starting with a $3500 limit w BCE is good and more than useful lol... A higher starting limit would be more useful, and Citi is a tough cookie to crack LOL for better or worse.

Re: App for Citi Diamond...or wait til after Amex 3xcli?

Just one data point, my Amex SPG is my highest limit CC.  It is at $27K.  It mgiht have been $25K when I applied for Citi Forward, can't remember now when they raised it to $27K.  Citi initially declined me because of too many inquiries.  I called the recon line and explained that all, but two of my inquiries were because of mortgage shopping.  I was approved for $7500.

I certainly wasn't expecting them to give me an initial CL matching my Amex, but I was hoping for around $10K.  Not really sure how helpful that info is, but it probably can't hurt to have another higher CL on your report when you app (or, depending on how you look at it, it doesn't seem to make a difference).

Re: App for Citi Diamond...or wait til after Amex 3xcli?

Yeah... I think other high limits are important. A 3xcli would get me to $10.5k w Amex. I don't have much experience with Citi, but based on my current highest limits of $13k, $12k, and $10k, it would appear as though Amex would def wanna 3xcli me, and Citi would want to start me out on the higher end $5k+. My highest initial approved cl was $6500 w Trav Amex(Barclay's). Wasn't instant though lol... Had to recon. Im starting to get worried about having really high limits compared to my income... Im at about 70% in avail cred as compared to reported income. The reality is that I barely use any of my high lines.. Dont use Lowe's, charge maybe $300 a month on Wmt Disc., maybe use Paypal mc a few hundred a month. Will Citi or Amex get freaked by this and deny a cli or get denied by Citi altogether?
