If you really don't need more credit and want Discover to make your card collection look good (like me) then you should wait for the pre-approval. I have applied to all pre-approvals and they were productive except for one from HSBC that I applied for 0% offer and got declined. But I am choosy with pre-approvals.
I waited for 1 year for American Express's preapproval to come and it was a productive app. I had to sacrifice many Discover pre-apps for Amex, but now they have dried up... Hope they send one soon.
