I don't need it in any way shape or form... but I want those 5% bonuses (even though the cap bites)
What is that? We have vodka in the garden? Back I go...
Calogan, I know the feeling!!!!!! Just got the CSP so I'm trying to wait out 3-4 months to get the Freedom (I really want that card!), but I don't know if I'll make it
Me neither, they keep sending me the pre-approved notices in the mail. I'm on month 2 of the CSP.... biding my time. I'm trying to talk myself out of it this way:
Quarter 1 - would have been the easiest for me, but I've missed out on Amazon.
Quarter 2 - grocery stores would be nice, but I'm willing to settle for 3% from BCP.
Quarter 3 - still working on a reason I don't need the card for this quarter... spending 1500 on fuel/restaurants is all too easy.
Quarter 4 - Hotels/Airlines. I may have to give in by quarter 4, maxing this out on hotels/airlines is one business trip.
Damn it, I talked myself further into it reviewing the bonuses again. If you don't app, I won't app.
Amex Accelerated Cash Rewards. BankAmericard Privileges with Travel Rewards. Amex Blue Cash Preferred. Chase Sapphire Preferred.
Now gardening until 2013. I assume gardening is a metaphor, like "book clubs" where all you do is drink wine.

I can see the value of having a thread where one can share his or her reasons for apping for a certain card, or why the efficacies of a certain card is tempting without interrupting or disturbning those who are currently solely focussed on gardening or not apping.

I've gotten 4 inquiries over the past two months though...2 from Capital One and 2 from HSBC. I probably won't be scratching that itch for awhile then unless I can just get away with a softie...
I would advise against it, Target is famous for giving you the lowest credit limit you will ever see on a card.... even first premie gives a higher limit for 500 FICO scores. I got my Redcard after getting 2x AMEX cards (blue 6k CL, Zync NPSL) and a Chase Freedom card (3k CL), TU and EX both low 700's sub 10% UTL they lay the slap down on my with a $200 limit there is absolutely no reason to apply for a card that will get a 200 CL. for the sock drawer
I like the 5% discount at target which is the only thing keeping me from closing it now.

Yes, I'm beginning to see this, as well.

Hmm.... I do still have some CCs that I want. Mainly,
* Capital One Cash Rewards
For no FTF fee.
* GECRB/Lowes
For 5% discount at Lowes.
* AMEX BCE
For 3% cashback on grocery.
* Barclay Barnes & Noble
For 5% discount at B&N.
* Target REDCard
For 5% discount at Target.
I apped Cash Rewards couple days ago. Denied, not really surprised. Want to see the denial reason to gauge their requirement. I will give AMEX BCE one last round at May. If I still can't get it then I don't want it. Will close ZYNC either way. Might app for Lowes at Q4 2012 (that's when 4 INQs from TU will fall off). Still debating about Barnes & Noble. Target will be the last card that I apply (currently have debit card version). I know Target is notorious for giving very low CL, so will only apply once my credit profile is matured.

I just had an itch, but I overcame it. It's only been three days. Not sure how I am going to garden for two years!!

The reason I created this thread is because the Garden Club started to shift (even the mods tried realign the true reason for the thread) So this thread should/can where after approvals you can chat about all the cards you want to app for, approvals/denials, etc. That way you can get it out of your system and if you feel it's time to garden then head over to the Garden Club thread.

Like a couple of others posting on this thread, i too went on an app spree (the same at 5 for 5). I know I'm going to take a pretty painful hit on new accounts, but are they all equal? As in, will the 5th new account be the same point penalty as the first, or does each affect you less to a certain degree? Thanks!
