Applied bank! Monthly fees

I've had this card around four years and it was one of my rebuilder cards but not my oldest card. Since then most of my reports are clean of all baddies except for TU which has one collection I'm still fighting. I do have a BK from 2005 reporting on EX and TU only. I tried calling Applied Bank to get the monthly maintenance fee waived it because I do not use this card and they will not budge. The limit it's $1150 but I'm tired of paying 15$ monthly fee and min .50 interest =\ I'm really scared to close this card but it will not effect my utilization at all I'm just scard that closing it may effect my scores? Need some advice please.

close it anyway. you can fix your util by paying more of your balances down. that card sucks.  as the quote goes, "you are better than the gap."

Were it me, I would close it. I just cant see any valid reason to keep paying those insane fees. Your credit will be fine..one guys opinion of course.

I hear ya about that, but 15 a month is 180 a year and that is too much money.  That card has taken you as far as it can now and its time to dump it.  Closing the account doesn't hurt you as it will report positively for 10 years.  It can increase your util therefore lowering your scores slighty, but you can take your deposit and pay off down any balances.
