Just applied for Discover. I didn't get an instant decision, it says 5-7 days, but it says in the meantime please register your account for online access. Anyone ever had this happen? What, if anything, does it mean?
I figured I might as well apply, I've had as many "preapproved" applications from Discover as I have from Citi. I know many on here and many people I know personally have spoken well of them. They grant nice CLIs, the accounts grow, etc. I'm trying to rid myself of low CL accounts. TD account is being paid off this Friday and is being sock-drawered indefinitelty. Other than the Lowe's card, I have no "major CC" inquiries. But the car loan inqs are still sitting there. Not sure how many inqs is too many for Discover.

If I were you I'd call discover, chances are if you didn't get denied they will approve you. Give them a call. And I'm sure your inq is fine or discover. I had around 3 when they approved me. Good luck. Post the decision here when you find it out.
It's Sunday, aren't those departments usually closed on the weekends? I'll probably have to wait until tomorrow.
I got the same message. I called in and they had me verify some info and i was approved.
i got almost the same situation but was denied because i didnt meet the income standards when i caled and talked to someone
If you scroll over the income question it says, excluding college students, you have to make 10k. Not sure how long that info has been there or when you applied.
I pulled my TU which says I've been looking for new credit. It's factoring in the car loan apps that hit in May and the Lowe's app. My zero balance from Chase Amazon didn't get picked up yet by TU and GEMB/Lowe's posted my balance but I returned the vacuum so that is now void, unfortunately that change won't post until Sept.
EDIT: I just called and it's still pending and the rep had no information on why it asked me to set up an online account. She transferred me to another dept but it was closed.
Discover called, I called back and spoke with a very nice rep. She asked some questions and asked how I would use the card. Asked me to explain some balances on my other cards. I got approved 1k, which is enough to buy the laptop I need for school..
Congrats on the card. They just like you to talk to a human being first before they approve you. Did they try to pressure you into signing up for their credit insurance?
They are kinda stingy with CLIs but at least you got your foot in the door.
