Applied for Merrick and experienced rude CSR for status check

Got a preapproval for Merrick bank card. No AF, no rewards, for $900 and applied online.

There was no number provided on the pre-approval letter, so I searched online and called a number. The CSR was not friendly, Initially said no app from me. Later after a lot of re-searching, she got me and said, call me tomorrow for what ever I asked her.

1. Any one with this card?

2. How is my approval chances after applying for pre-Selected offer?

Thanks...

Sorry to hear about your bad experience.  I have the Merrick card and they're a good rebuilder card.   My score was very low 600s when I got their pre-approved offer.  IIRC, I completed mine online.   And IIRC, they also don't do cold apps for their unsecured cards, so it's a good offer to get if you're in that place for bulding/rebuilding credit.  My CL doubled from $600 to $1200 after seven months.  APR is my highest at an appalling 28.75%, but I also have no AF.  It's currently in my SD and I'm debating what to do with it.

Thanks for sharing this.

Was yours instant approval? If not, how long they took to say the results?

Re: Applied for Merrick and experienced rude CSR for status check

Sorry you got someone who woke up on the wrong side of the bed.  The couple of times I have called Merrick they were very polite and accomodating.  It can be a useful card to get you to your next pay if it doesn't have any fees to it.  I say next pay cause the interest is like 99.9%....  ok that's an exaggeration, but still, it reports, will help you build credit and doubles after seven months.  And mine was an instant approval after entering their invitiation info online.
