Apply for Citi Forward Student or no?

I saw on numerous threads that the Citi Forward for Students was a good card. Should I even bother applying for citi forward student with my scores (as of mid Dec) TU 609, EQ 618, and EX 625, and with an income of close to 9000? For those who were approved, what'd your annual income and scores look like?

As of today, I have no baddies, 5 inqs on EX and EQ each, and 13 on TU. Total balances reported on my two cards are about 120, so close to 20% util.

Those scores look kind of low for Citi.  I'd hold off until they're higher.  Citi is very inflexible when it comes to approvals.

Thank you for the honesty. Any cards you can recommend that I 'should' or at least have a good chance of being approved for?

I would wait until some of those inquiries fall off.  I've heard of people getting rejected solely because they had >5 inquiries on EX.

Maybe Chase Freedom, if you'd like to roll the dice?

Re: Apply for Citi Forward Student or no?

yeah that's gonna be hard, especially with Citi's recon which usually isn't helpful.

I would try the Discover IT card for students or maybe the Chase Freedom. I got declined for the freedom when I first started off because my Average age of accounts was 3 months, and even chase recon wouldn't do anything.

Re: Apply for Citi Forward Student or no?

I'm looking at Chase Freedom reviews on CK, and according to CK,  average score is 708. Is that accurate information or would you guys disregard it? And I'll spend some time looking into the It

Re: Apply for Citi Forward Student or no?

I wouldn't even bother with Chase Freedom til my scores are all in the 700s with at least a year of history. That's just me though.

How long have you had the journey?  That should (slowly) increase if you use it and pay in full each time.
