My co-worker got caught up in that drama last year.  He had a good run with the Amazon Visa as well as IHG (both more than a couple of years)...app'd for Ritz...card approved, 3 weeks after all cards stopped working.  AR review in progress...end result, all cards closed.  I don't know what it is about the Ritz card but it seems to triggers something within Chase.
