Applying for a credit card, got 2 hard inquiry on the same day and the same CRA. Is it normal?

Hi guys,

This happened quite a long time ago but it still bugs me so I think I should ask you guys.

Several months ago, I applied for a Discover IT. Eventually, they denied me, which is OK. 

However, when I saw my credit report, I found two hard inquiries. One from "DISCOVER FINANCIAL SVCS" and one from "DISCOVER FINANCIAL SERVC". on the same day on my Transunion credit report.

Is this normal? Is it possible for me to ask Discover to remove one of them?

agree on the question, did u try to recon the application or request a higher limit?

I called in several days after submitting the application to ask for an application status but never asked for "reconsideration".

However, the date that showed on both hard inquiries are 10/12/2012 but the date I called in is around the first week of November. Is it possible that the additional inquiry comes because I called in?

It shouldn't if you called days later. I would request one to be removed as a duplicate. It's worth a try.

It is also surprised me that buying a car with my personal check also required a credit pull. Sigh.

Probably a mistake. I would call Discover to ask them to remove one of the two inquiries.

BOA did the exact same thing to me two days ago. I applied online and got a 7-10 day wait and they called me two days later and verified some info and approved me. I found out that the second pull was done the same evening that they approved me. I will be calling them to ask that the 2nd inq be removed asap!

good luck ssp! I have been going back and forth about removing an unauthorized pull back on May 12. They told me they would put in the request to get it removed and till this day it still shows up on TU. Will give them till the end of the month and then will call again.

Thanks! I guess I better get on it right away I'm still scratching my head over this! lol I could understand if they pulled a different cra but to have dupe reports? well, I hope we're able to resolve it before it falls off by itself!
