Applying for an unsecured Credit Card

Hello,

I am using Wells Fargo Secured Credit Card with a limit of $500 since Oct 2011. I have always paid the bill on time and in full. I am thinking of applying for a more respectable credit card. I am a novice in credit stuff. I am an international student residing in the US since August 2011.

I have these in mind. I need help in choosing and any advice is also very much welcome.

1. Citi Forward College Student Card

2. Discover Student More Card

Thank you

Do you have documented income as student from, for example, part time job?

More important what you made last year on tax return or can prove through recent paystubs.  In any case, app for the student cards.  I don't think either you listed had any AFs.

Re: Applying for an unsecured Credit Card

Thank you for your reply. Sorry, but what is 'AF'?

Should I wait for one year to complete? Or can I apply right away?

Re: Applying for an unsecured Credit Card

None of them have annual fee. Both have nice features which have me confused. Say, my application is rejected. What are the consequences? Would it affect my future applications?

Re: Applying for an unsecured Credit Card

Bumping this thread because I have an update. I applied for the Citi Forward Student Card. I was not instantly approved or denied. It said :

Thank you kmh123. We have received your application and further processing is required at this time. We will contact you within a week via email regarding our decision. Thank you for requesting a Citi Forward® Card.

Keeping fingers crossed.

Re: Applying for an unsecured Credit Card

Good Luck!

You always have the option to call and get a more direct response/quicker approval.

The CC you opened in 2011 should be graduating soon to an unsecured.

Re: Applying for an unsecured Credit Card

Thanks!

I called them. Basically, they repeated the same thing - "Your application requires further processing. We will get back to you in 7-10 days". I asked them if they were looking for any specific information so that the process can be quickened. They repeated the above sentence again! Duh!
