Applying

I am 3 months removed from my BK, and I have 3 open revolvs.  2 cap 1 cards that have been reporting for 3 months now, and soon to be on there will be Merrick Bank.  I really only wanted 4 CC'ds as I really don't use them but for gas a month and then PIF.  My CC Util is 6%.  I really want Wally world and Barclays to round out the CC.  Obviously that will give me a total of 5, but thats all I want and therefore will be done appin'g.  I tried for Wally World 1 month post discharge and they told me no because of BK, and I super figured that.  At that time I had 0 open revolvs and TU FICO was 558.  I now have the 2 (soon to be 3 on my CR) that will have been reporting for 3 months and a new one in MB, and my TU FICO is now 602 with a few less baddies on there from when I applied in mid-late March.  When do you all think I should apply for the WM and Barclays to round out my Credit Revolv?  Thank Yall!

3 months out is really soon IMO to be applying for a wally or anything Barclay.. i would take the cards you have and garden them.. use them wisely.. make your payments and let your score continue to grow.. if i were you.. i would go 1 full year with no apps and all garden! Especially if you dont need the wally and barcaly which you said you dont.. I know its hard but get in the garden and relax. Let your current cards grow and you'll be happy you waited Smiley Happy

Re: Applying

Barclays is unlikely with the BK. Not sure why you would want a Walmart card. Even the free fico is less than enticing. If you want a store card, I always recommend the amazon card.

Re: Applying

Barclays won't like all the new credit until about the 6 month mark, especially with a BK. What Barclays did you want specifically? Personally I think you should wait a year to 18 months before getting any more cards. Rebuilding is a slow process and you will take even longer to get your desired cards if you keep applying to early.

|| Barclaycard Rewards Visa $5500 || AMEX BCE $2000 || Discover IT $3000 || Amazon Rewards Visa $1800 ||
|| Chase Freedom $2700 || CSP $5000 || Chase Marriott Premier $7500 || Sallie Mae MC $3800 ||

FICO Scores: EX 752 (3/13/13) || EQ 782 (10/4/13) || TU 724 (1/18/13)

True about the wally card.. the only real good benefit to having it is that you get your Free TU Fico score once a month on a random date that will cause you to pull out your hair in frustration because it wont update.. Smiley Very Happy

Re: Applying

in my opinion, scores are really much less important than what;s on your report. I'd rather know exactly what balances reported, what accounts closed, opened, who's SP'd and HP'd me and the dates, etc.

That inormaiton is infinitely more important than a score calculated by one of fifty different variations of the FICO scoring system.

This is why I don't really think cards that offer free scores and nothing else are really worth it.

Re: Applying

Thank You everyone!  I am not sure about which one of the Barclay flavors yet.  The WM would be to use for like food/gas purchases and the to have the TU FICO would be a bonus.  Unless it never updates again. heheh  j/k   I plan on waiting to app, but felt like maybe it would be better to have it done all at once and take a bigger AAoA (which is 7.5 years) all at once insted of spread out.  I really thank yall for the advice!  I have heard Barclays wants 6 months out.  I might just say forget it for now and just focus on the 3 cards and let them all grow, and maybe sometime next year worry about the other 2....

Good advice given and decision Deltadog to garden you're really close to the Wally range but I would give it a couple more months of gardening and it should be within reach.

Barclay IMO wait another 6 months so that INQ's and the cards you have now age a bit.

Good luck and see you in the garden

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?
