I got stuck with the Plan B 300.00 CL card and a $69.00 AF. I opened it this past October and would love to close it but I'm not sure when it's best to do it. I don't even need the card I left home with out my wallet and got talked into opening the card by my kid so she could buy a $15.00 CD.  I just feed the card every few months so they don't close it on me. I just worry if closing the card will effect my score too much.

Closing may not affect your score too badly given the current limits on your other cards.  $300/$14000 is only 2% of total available credit.  Meanwhile, the card will continue to report as a positive tradeline for the next 10 years.  If you don't need it, go ahead and close it and save yourself the annual fee.  You've already taken the AAoA and INQ ding for it, so closing it shouldn't do much additional harm.  But you might want to run it past your son/daughter... Smiley Tongue

Re: Approved for Best Buy Reward Zone Mastercard!

Ya know, I've never noticed an annual fee on mine...I'm 99.5% sure there isn't one, but it certainly isn't the "prime" version. Starting CL was $300, now it's $500. I do use it fairly frequently and have started to PIF each month, but I use the little reward points for Barbie DVDs for my 3 year old, haha. Crappy card, I know..but they gave it to me at a high 400 score in 5/11, after not having any credit cards for 8 years..

I started with a $4,00 limit around November 2010.

I am currently at $8,500.

I dont know why people talk bad about this card. If anything it has been one of the best cards I have used for points.

I am a HUGE tech nerd and buy most gifts from Best buy and some times things for myself.

We have spent more than $2,500 so we are now preimier silver and get even more points.

The added points from buying at best buy are very generous sometimes. Over the christmas break I bought a new phone and I had a ton of extra points added in.

Best buy points, Master card points, reward zone silver points, upgrade points, android phone points, and an extra 10% bonus.

We pay all our bills and put all purchases on this card.

We pay it off every month.

hmmm. i'm not buying it. you see, i ALSO opened a gold rzmc in NOVEMBER 2010 with a 1500 dollar limit. i NEVER ONCE received a CLI from them.. NOT ONCE. you are either disingenuous, (one post, strange) or you misunderstood and have a best buy store card. and you also didn't even consider that you put a comma in your 4,00. to europeans, that is a four dollar credit limit.

Re: Approved for Best Buy Reward Zone Mastercard!

My wife has a RZMC that I got raised to 500 a few months ago.  It has not seen a single charge to it in over a year.  It resides not in the sock drawer but in the bottom of my cat's litter box.
They are such tightwads with their limits!  In fact, I don't even shop at Best Buy because of that card's limit.  lol  Best Buy is a good store to go play with something to see if I like it before I go buy it off amazon or at some other lower priced place. Smiley Happy

Congrats on the card though.  Just don't expect much luv from them.

+1 for kicking them to the curb asap and not having to pay 59 bucks or whatever the heck it is now for the AF. Smiley Happy

Re: Approved for Best Buy Reward Zone Mastercard!

Ever since learning that I could ask for a cli, I have received two increases on my BBRZ MC of $600 each. I actually like the card....no annual fee.

Re: Approved for Best Buy Reward Zone Mastercard!

I had what used to be the "gold" version of the BBRZ MC with $0 annual fee.  Also started with $300 or $500 limit.  Had it for a few years but you do actually get CLI's from it occasionally using the online request system.  I'm currently up to $1,750 so don't totally write the card off!

Re: Approved for Best Buy Reward Zone Mastercard!

Terrible CL's and a terrible AF. They must be losing a lot of money from alot of their customers on these clients if those are the terms they need.

Yep, old thread brought back to life. I'm going to close this one, but if anyone wants to start a different BBRZ MC thread, feel free to do so.
