Congrats!!
I think when I do apply for a 2nd Amex it will be one of the blue cards..I love reading stories like this..Gives us all hope and the information to make an informed decision..
I asked Amex about this and the CSR rep said they review all accounts every six months or so and one of the factors they consider is average payment amount. It is best for this scoring model to pay early and in full for everything if possible. This is a factor in CLI's. I figure while 12,000.00 might be seriously pushing it, another two months of perfect payment history on BCP and Green give them little reason to doubt me. So far they have done everything I have asked for. I even got the "Spend 1,000.00 in the next three months and get a 150.00 statement credit" offer. It was advertised on other websites so I called in and asked if I could have that. The CSR said he would put in a request to add that and not to worry it would be taken care of.
Nicely done on the statement credit.
Now time to find what classifies as "Grocery" for you, nearby.
Oddly enough, my local Target counts on my BCE as "Grocery", so I try to make a lot of my buys there as well, to take advantage.

If you already are an Amex cardmember and have solid payment history with them it does not appear to be too tough to get approvals for pretty much any of their products (YMMV of course). They have their own internal scoring system for customers. Where I could see Chase or Citi denying me right now, Amex can see my history on the green card for the past six months. I can see why people like Amex so much, they are good to you unless you screw them. Then I have heard they can be extremely unforgiving.
@espnjunkie wrote:Thanks so much FrugalRican! The advice I have received has been spot on the whole way. Posters here really know their stuff and have been through it all. The application was super easy as well because I was already a cardmember. Took less than a minute to check the boxes and fill out. So in 2 months I can theoretically ask for a $12,000.00 limit? Wishful thinking but worth a shot if it's only a soft pull.
I can't believe how far I have come in under a year. I want to help pay it forward to anyone else with questions and help with what knowledge I can.
CSP doesn't feel too far away at all now, same with any visa signature or world mastercard
Congrats!!! That's a great starting limit. With respect to how realistic it is to go from $4K to $12K in 61 days, in my opinion very realistic. I went from an approval limit of $2K on 9/11/11, to $6K 61 days later, to $18K 6 mos later...The 3x limit rule works...use it!

I got the Zync on 06/25/12 so I thought about apping for one of the version of Blue in Jan 2013, that way if approved the new card would have an earlier opening date that the original card..And I think from what I've read it's only a SP for the new card..
Again Congrats! Can't wait to read how this card grows for you!
Anything you buy at Target is considered 'grocery'??!?! I might have to start shopping there more often haha. I think I will just use the BCP for rewards category spending, and put everything else on the Green card to rack up MR points. It'll be nice to cash those bad boys in for a free flight at some point haha. While I would like to have a platinum card someday, right now it's totally unnecessary. Any grocery stores/department stores get a great rewards rate on this card though.
Congrats!!!! What a GREAT card and awesome starting limit! WOOHOO
I'd wait six months on the Zync and then apply for BCE/BCP or something else. That way you have some payment history for them to go by. Once you are 'in' with them, you really are 'in' so to speak it seems. I can't even wrap my mind around a 12,000.00 limit right now (I'd never spend that much in a month right now hahaha), but it sounds awesome. I'd be happy just getting over the 5,000.00 hump to qualify for visa signature/world mastercard products.
Soft pull if rejected. Hard pull with approval. Good plan however.
