I don't know why people say Discover isn't generous. They gave me my highest CL ever up to that point and I think a 6k credit limit for someone who's other cards had a $600 credit limit is SUPER generous. I was shocked when I called to find my limit.
I started out at 4k and less than a year later I was at 9k. Which isn't that bad given that I make less than 40k a year.
Thanks guys....So what I gather is try a recon but even if it doesn't work out the card will grow. That's encouraging! (if only my chase freedom would follow suit lol).
For the 3-6 month CLIs that everyone's mentioning, are they auto or I have to call discover and ask? or is there an online option? or both and the phone one is better?(I think someone mentioned that...)

If you don't mind me asking you guys, what kind of usage patterns do you guys have with this card to get these CLIs?
And they auto CLI each time or you have to request it?For me it never was auto-luv. I had to request it. During the first 15 months my util was 70-90% but no success on CLIs. Then I cut back the use for the 5% categories and ShopDiscover only with average util of 20-30% of the 2,5K limit and then all the sudden CLI to 5K approved. 3 months later played the luv button again and util was never over 10- 20% and CLI to 7,5K approved. Discover is weird but with the CL now I am fully happy. On the two year mark I will play the luv botton again to try to get an even 10K CL and then I will not touch it again. But if it does not work I can perfectly live with it.
+1 I have had the card since June 2013 and for myself was my first card with a $750 Limit and 19.99% APR. No Auto CLI ever and Asked for a $250 CLI with HP in December to see if they would match my Amex BCE and approved. Asked for $1,000 in June and got countered with $500 with another HP. Stuck at $1,500

Problem is when your card is only 500 or 1000. I had to fix my car and the total was 1024, so I had to split that but put my cards around 70-90%. I try to not use that much but sometimes there is no other way.
Understandable...
Thats what its there for, but just keep in mind using that much UTI will not do you any good as far as CLI's go
