I went ahead and pulled the trigger on AMEX and I got the 14 day message. I also had the status checker website up and I entered my information to find out that I have been approved. The site didn't say what my limit was but I should be getting my card within the next week or so. I'm excited to be part of the AMEX family, even if it is just a revolver. I'm too chicken to apply for a charge card anyway.
But I say all that to say that I have been approved!

Congrats!! You can call CR and ask for info on the limit. I was approved Friday 27/01 and still am waiting for my card to arrive XD
What's the number? Everytime I call and ask about my application status, I'm told to call back tomorrow. Should I try a different option?

Did they tell you your limit? Everytime I call, they say to try again when they're open. I guess the application branch of AMEX isn't 7 days a week.
I called on a friday and was able to talk to a live person, so maybe they don't work on sunday I guess
