Are AMEX Pre-approved offers on their website an almost guarantee? I got pre-approved for a Zync.

In my case NO.It showed as pre approved for Blue Cash and Blue card, 6 months ago.
When I applied for Blue Cash, I got rejected saying "my balances on other cards are too high'.
My wife was pre approved for a Gold Charge card and when she applied online, she was approved instantly.Also, I have seen multiple cases where people have been approved for charge cards based on their pre approvals.

Not sure.
When I called up for Recon, all they said was Revolving Balances on my credit cards are too high and once it's reduced, I was asked to re apply after 30 days.I was at almost 60% utilization back then.

I can only answer for myself. I was pre-approved for a gold card last August and received immediate approval.

I already had a Gold Premier Rewards card and when I would log onto I saw the pre-approved offers for the platinum upgrade and blue sky preferred so I finally applied for the blue sky preffered card and was approved for $10,000.

I had just the opposite, no preapprovals when i put in my info, went ahead and applied for the zync and got approved.
Current Debt Management: $15k Trinity Financial Management (scheduled pay off late 2021) $10k NFCU $350/mth Bridgecrest Auto Loan Goals: Pay off credit card debt & buy a new home before end of 2020
Long Term Debt: Fed Loans - $150k Navient - $100k
Taking a "if God don't do it, it won't get done..." approach to paying these off.
