Are payments on a 0% bt considered usage to the issuer?

I have a slate card with a promotional BT balance. I never use the card. Only make on time payments to the BT.

I want to use chase in the future. Should I sprinkle in purchases or will payments on the bt be enough? Does it even matter?

Payments count as activity.

Whether or not you should use the card to make purchases while you're paying it off is up to you... Small purchases every now and then, I don't see much of a problem with. Making large and/or frequent purchases is just asking for trouble.

Personally, I wouldn't even touch the card while it's being paid off. I have a $5000 Discover with a $3000 transfered balance sitting on it; I haven't charged a single red cent to it in months.

I Have Way Too Many of These.

American Express - No CLI or Appreciation Gift in 7 Years

Citibank - Handing Out Credit Limits Like Candy

Chase - Surprisingly, Still Tolerating My Credit-Chasing Ways

Bank of America - My Newest Bae.

Everyone Else.
