Asking for CLI - question

OK, I have seen on the boards where you can get a CLI every 4 months on GE cards, every 6 months on Discover, etc.

But my question is, if they tell you no to your request, how soon are you able to ask again? Are you locked out from asking, or can you ask again in a month if your numbers change?

Re: Asking for CLI - question

You can ask every day if you want to, but I wouldn't suggest it.

Wait 30 days or so and try again.  JMHO.

Re: Asking for CLI - question

With GE you can ask as often, I would do the day after my statement drops after every 4th month.  For some reason it seems to have worked for me.

Re: Asking for CLI - question

I want to ask for DH's Discover. He has had the card a couple years, but util is high. (on card $4359/$6000 and overall) I am doing some BT's,that will help his overall util, but it will not be until May before everything hits the CR's.  I want to ask sooner, so the clock resets and if they say yes, ask again. But I don't want to ask, have them say no, and then not be able to ask at the end of May when the numbers are better. Am I making sense?

Re: Asking for CLI - question

You can ask GE whenever you lie, bu it is recommended to ask every 4 months because they soft quarterly and you have a better chance of them getting a recent report to go off of. Discover im not sure since im a fresh fish with them lol

Re: Asking for CLI - question

You could try the phone menu option to ask for CLI on Discover. Keep in mind that if you ask for too high an increase it will be denied and you will be referred to a CSR who will ask your permission to do a credit check. So I would suggest asking for something like 1000-1500 max.

It is always a soft pull unless you give your permission to the CSR to pull your report.

What about the LUV button? He has the CLI button there.  I read that people have been getting CLI's and counter offers with it. If I hit it now, and they say no, does it go away for 6 months, or is it still there?  People who hit it and did not get an increase, what happened?
