Authorized User on VS Card

My 19 year old daughter has 0 credit and I just got the bright idea to add her as an AU on my tiny little Victoria's Secret card. My question is, when I added her, it did not ask me for her SSN. I'm assuming this means it won't help develop a credit history, correct? All it asked for was her full name, DOB, and relationship to me.

Re: Authorized User on VS Card

Have no experience with VS card, however

have added both my daughters as AU's on a few cards.

If they live at your address they usually get them added

with out asking for the SSN, Don't quite know how but they do.

Be patient, it takes awhile to start posting. Maybe someone with

your card will give more pertinent info.

Re: Authorized User on VS Card

Thanks! I'll have her look out for it in the next couple months. It didn't even ask her address, now that you say that.

It will be six months before scores are generated. I don't know how they do it without SSN, but they make it happen.

Re: Authorized User on VS Card

Oh and if you have a Chase or Capital one card. They'll have more of a positive impact, since they both back date to the original account opening.😉

Re: Authorized User on VS Card

Holy cow- 6 months! Thanks for the info. I guess it makes sense since you need some kind of history built to be able to report.

Re: Authorized User on VS Card

You'll be able to see the green box a few days or so after your next statement cuts (if not sooner). She won't get a FICO score until 5-6 months of reporting though.

Re: Authorized User on VS Card

Thanks, everyone- this really helps. I will probably add her to another card (or two) based on your feedback. It's time for the little birdie to start leaving the nest and that's hard to do these days without a credit score.
