Authorized User with Social Security number

If I do not provide the persons social when adding them as an authorized user, they are just getting a duplicate card with their name on it and it does not report/affect their credit?

I"m on BestBuy AU i don't remember giving out my SS and still showes up on my CR !!

I know Amex ask for SS when adding.

Does being AU lets say on Discover or any card help the AU for better approval for that card when applied later on ?

I like to know how this works pros/cons

THANKS

Re: Authorized User with Social Security number

some want/need ssn and some don't....

i know AMEX will ask for ssn if adding an AU and Citi does not.

They have different ways to identify you through your name, address, ssn, etc and can report on your credit through any one of those ways.

Its going to help him with his credit and his UTI . If he never had any credit card then its should help his credit score and stuff..just make sure they report to credit bureaus and make sure you maintain the credit card with a good care which is paid on time and using less than 9% every months....

I think the best change you can take for him that let he stand on your account for several month and then bring him to his local bank and apply for a card that fit with his need.....If they declined he always can go with a secured card put some like 500 dollars deposit to start with......i guess...thats just my opinion

@nicholasyud
He has checkings with bofa so i might add him to one of my bofa cards and in six months have him apply for his own. After that i plan to have him join NFCU through me and hopefully by then his scores will be good enough for a big CL with them.
