Autumn Cleaning Dropping Cards From My Wallet.... No more AMEX & CSP

I know this goes against the grain here, but I just dropped two great cards.   I had 8 cards, with 56K in available credit.  It was just too much.

I'm now down to 6... and would like to axe two more but don't know where.... My credit limits dropped from 56K to 36K with this move - and I'm no longer in with American Express.

My BCE was just not competitive anymore. Neither was the CSP with it's annual fee.

I recently acquired the new PenFed Defender AMEX with it's 1.5% cash back applied each month and no forex fees (and 6.99% APR)

I also "upgraded" my NFCU Cashrewards into the Visa Signature Version.

I'm rolling with those two cards - with PenFed Plat Cash for gas - and my BoA Travel Rewards for travel/and monthly reoccuring bills.

Also have Chase Freedom and USAA World MC, both now in SD

I had the AMEX BCE for about 18 months... they offered $25 to keep the account open - but really I'm trying to simplify life.

Feels good to make these changes to make life easier for sure!

I am down to 6 active with others in the SD. It just becomes too much to manage.

Great move!

Makes sense, also good to be able to axe prime cards for uber-prime cards!

Congrats!
