As some of you may know I’m trying to get my BOA secured card to unsecure, it’s been my goal ever sense I started rebuilding my credit last year. I’ve had the card over 12 months now and nothing even though I’ve never paid a penny interest, always paid in full and have received over 100 dollars in rewards. Ive called the backdoor number like 3 times to see if I could get an answer to why my card has not been reviewed yet? They say its all up to the computer. I find it hard to believe that someone at BOA cant unsecure my card without a HP. I do know that having the card reviewed does not mean it will automatically become unsecured but I would like to at least have the card be reviewed w/o getting a HP. It’s sad that my own bank who i have been with for 7 years have a good portion of my DD going there and having always at least 5k just sitting in my checking account cant unsecure a card for 300 bucks without doing another HP. I don’t even need the card it’s just the principle of it now. How can chase give me $8200 total credit lines and I don’t even bank with them? It makes no sense to me.
Anyways, I chatted with boa online which they have been the most helpful of anyone I have dealt with at BOA and I asked for the ceo’s email and they said that they will have someone call me from the EO. This should be great! Last time I talked to the EO at BOA they said that at 12 months I will automatically get another HP on my credit report to see if the card could become unsecured. I told the lady that’s not true and she got angry with me. I almost closed out the card the last time I spoke to someone at the back door number but they said I would lose my rewards cause I currently had only 21 dollars cause I cashed most of it out in feb when I bought my car. So I ended up going to wal mart and bought a 200 dollar gift card and got my 2% cash back for 4 bucks so when my next statement cuts I can cash out my rewards and close my card if they don’t unsecure it. It should be interesting to see if the EO even calls me.
