Back during this approval craze I apped. The screen disappeared and it was as if I never apped. I tried a second app and was instantly declined. Got the hard pull. Hated the experience. I always get revenge. Comenity sent me a pre-approval on a Red Roof Inn Visa knowing they were ending their partnership in the coming weeks.

I have no idea what one has to do with the other, but you sure are not the only one to report issues with BBVA Compass (something I did not experiece first hand) or Comenity (something I did experience and will never do business with them because of it).
I've mentioned before my feelings on BBVA/Compass (known locally as "Compass Bank").
In my experience they are too big to have a personal touch, but not big enough to have large-bank efficiencies one would normally expect from a regional bank.
If you need an example of this, they still use the same mailing address for nearly everything (PO Box 10566) regardless of the product type (checking, mortgage, credit card, etc.). I had that address memorized for years since it's where I had to mail my ATM receipts to get my foreign ATM fees reimbursed (for a long time they reimbursed all foreign ATM fees, but it was a manual process). If you mail them anything, you had better put the department on the envelope, or else it might 'float around' their office for a while before getting to the right department, if it does at all.
If it tells you anything, I left them for Wachovia (now Wells Fargo) and never looked back - yep, I'm saying I prefer Wells Fargo to Compass.
Hopefully whoever the NBA partners with next will be more capable.
BBVA. Walk All Ova Ya.
So I have this card, low rate and decent CL. Wonder if they will close it outright or convert to internal BBVA credit card or move it to a new issuer? Any thoughts?
Don't mind losing the sponsorship but I hope we can keep our CL with whoever picks this card up. I got in during the rush for 20K......some use, mostly short term cash advance at the casino when I needed quick cash. Always PIF but one month there was a $2.00 interest charge that posted after I made payment........almost got a late pay the next month. Havent used it since.
I contacted them on Facebook and they said we would get new cards in June with same credit limit and interest rate but no basketball art or anything. They didn't say if it will still be an AMEX but they did mention rewards. Guess we will find out soon.

Thats good to know!! Thanks for the info, hope they commuicate that to us somehow officially at some point!
hmmm,
from what I can see on their website they only have 3 credit cards:
one secured
one with an annual fee
one without an annual fee with rewards...compass clearpoints
I would assume that we will be switched to that card? From what I read online, the points are worth 1/2 percent. yikes. not sure I want it. I def don't want a new account if they switch us.

If BBVA switches the cards to a program with less favorable rewards, keeping the account open, even if barely used, could be beneficial for utilization. If there's no annual fee, leaving it open helps you build a higher AAoA.
