I have the BCP and apped for Amex Blue Cash three days ago. Amex automatically cancelled the application so I called them right away to see what's going on. The Amex system thinks the BCP and Blue Cash are one of the same. So they thought was it was duplicate application. Talked to CSE and they resubmitted the application. Today three days later it's still in progress. I gave CSR a call today and was promised a decision tonight or tomorrow because they are working on it.
I think this going to be epic in the sense that Amex might not want people with BCP to have the BC card. I frankly dont understand why they wouldn't. But let's wait and see. Will know soon..I guess.
Also worth noting is that there has been no SP or HP shown on either of my Experian or Equifax. I tend to think most AMEX decisions are made using internal data.
The fact that I have not seen a HP yet is encouragign since a HP means it's not considered a new APP. No SP means it hasn't been declined.
Very interesting what will happen sinse my credit report was temporarily unfrozen for 4 days which ends today. So if AMEX plans to HP later it will be locked out.
They initially told me that Iwould get a decision in 3 days. Then I called on day 3 and was told I would get a decision in 24 hours. Today is day #7. <yawn>
NO SP and NO HP on my credit reports yet. What is holding up these guys?

Not sure why you say that. A lot (judging from FT thread) of people, including me, have both. PCing from BCP seems hard-to-impossible, but there doesn't seem to be a problem having both cards.
Turns out my app sat in "in progress" mode for the past three weeks. Today it changed to cancelled.
I called AMEX new app unit and was confirmed that since I have had the BCP less than 90 days their system will automatically cancel the application.
I then requested to speak to a CSR to see if they could switch my BCP to BC and was told it was not possible at this time.
It appears converting or apping from BCP to BC won't be possible until after the 90 day mark.
Good news is neither a HP or SP was made.
At least you werent "charged" a HP!
I disagree. Likely something else.
my wife had amex delta. We PC to BCP. Less tha. A few weeks later, we apply and she instantly gets BC.
plenty of people have both BCP and Bc.
Did you you recently apply for other amex cards?
was your application pending for the review team(identity) or someone else?
How is your amex history now? Recently get cli ? Do you do MS?

plenty of people have both BCP and Bc. Yes Amex confirms it is possible to have BCP and BC.
Did you you recently apply for other amex cards? Depends what recently means to you. I recently ( 3 months? ) apped and approved for BCP and PRG.
was your application pending for the review team(identity) or someone else? It was not for identity since I am an existing AMEX customer. So most likely something else. In fact the application for the BC was instantly cancelled. When I called in I was confirmed that their system automatically cancels applications that it feels are in the same family of products. I then asked them to resubmit which in turn resulted another cancellation after the manual processing.
How is your amex history now? Recently get cli ? Do you do MS? Yes I recently received 3X CLI. Yes I do some MS. I'm not sure if or how MS will effect their decision to approve or cancel an application.
I am 10 days away from the 90 day mark. So I'll call then to request a PC and if not approved will APP for the BC.
I have been confirmed by several people with both the BC and BCE, and BC and BCP and it appears they were approved for BC after 90 days.
