Re: BJ's switching from Barclay to Comenity

My BJ's member magazine came today and it mentioned applications are being taken in club and online.  However, the online site is not up yet (will probably be up by the end of the week).

Here is the Comenity BJ's account site - not for new apps though.

Just filled my gas tank at BJ's - the extra 10 cents comes right off the pump price it's not a rewards credit on the card - $2.65.9 /gal net

Never crossed my mind to check who issues BJ's cards, had I known it was Barclays I would've looked more closely at applying for one.

Not as good as the 3-5% from a rewards card though.  I don't think I'll use the card for gas at BJ's.

Around here BJ's gas is already the cheapest around by anywhere from 5 to 20 cents, the extra 10 cents is just on top of that. If I drive 30 miles south its 25 cents a gal cheaper, but there and back costs 2 gals - wipes out the savings.

No denying BJ's gas is often the cheapest around, but given every gas rewards card I have had awards the bonus rebate for gas at BJ's, it makes more sense to use a gas rewards card at BJ's versus their new Mastercard (since the 3-5% is currently greater than the 10 cents offered by this new card).

Keep in mind that many gasoline rewards credit cards exclude warehouse clubs, so the BJ's MC isn't a bad deal.

I was going to garden... Honest!

Re: BJ's switching from Barclay to Comenity

Just stopped my club and asked about the card. They are not taking applications in-store until mid week but they had brochures and mail applications. I also called the toll-free number and was told applications begin Monday.

Looks like it might be a SP application because it only requests the last four digits of your SS #. Also, if you have the higher end membership, you get a reduced interest rate on BJ's purchases (currently 7.9%).

If Comenity keeps getting new accounts they just may be the next Citi.
