BOA Platinum Plus Visa - World Points Visa Product Change???

Hi Frnds

Is it worth to do product change from BOA Platinum Plus Visa(previously it was a secure cc,converted to non secure in Jan'08) to Visa World Points(donno about 'visa signature')with 1K CLI.

I saw in this forum that Signature cc can't show CLs in CR is that right?

In that case is my decision is worth to convert to Visa World Points?

Thanks

imho worldpoint sucks - poor rewards payout and limited, lame selection. but if you use your BoA CC a lot and PIF each month, you might as well switch and earn some points.

iirc, you need ≥ 5k CL for the sig visa PC. since it doesn't have a pre-set limit, it's not supposed to report CL on CRs (though some members have experienced the otherwise).

check out citi's thankyou, AmEx's membership rewards, and penfed's platinum rewards for better payouts.

Re: BOA Platinum Plus Visa - World Points Visa Product Change???

Hi biturbomunkie

Wht is this 5K CL & Why Signature Ccs won't report to the CRAs.
If I get more than 5K CL for this rewards cc, will it report to CRAs?

Wht is pre-set limit ?

Re: BOA Platinum Plus Visa - World Points Visa Product Change???

5k CL - iirc, someone on here tried to PC a BoA CC to the visa sig, the member was told by BoA that as long as his/her CL is ≥ 5k, there would be no problem.

no pre-set limit - visa sig and world/world elite MC have no pre-set limits. i.e. if your visa sig's CL was $7k and you buy something that is $8k w/ your CC, the transaction should not be declined. however, you must pay off the over-limit amount before payment due date to avoid any penalty.

as you can see, a no pre-set limit card actually allows you to charge more than your CL, so CCC is not supposed to report the CL to CRAs regardless of the actual CL. sometimes; however, the highest bal is reported and is used as CL for evaluation purposes.

Re: BOA Platinum Plus Visa - World Points Visa Product Change???

Hi biturbomunkie

Thank you for ur info.

I just spoke to BOA CSR to make sure the morning PC stuff.
But that guy told me as my present Platinum Plus Visa has a AF of 29$ so even if I get World Rewards Visa Signature I have to pay AF of 29$.

Donno 2 contradictory statements from 2 different CSRs within 6hrs.
Finally I cancelled that PC request to World Rewards Visa.

I will try my luck later with a different CSR.

Have a Great Weekend

Re: BOA Platinum Plus Visa - World Points Visa Product Change???

no problem, HA.

there shouldn't be any AFs on plat plus visa, plat visa WP, or the visa sig (except $150 AF on the premier banking visa sig).

i think it's smart to talk to another CSR. imo, BoA's CSRs can get more confused than their clients.

good luck! =)

Re: BOA Platinum Plus Visa - World Points Visa Product Change???

I had a fun round-and-round conversation with a BofA rep after asking the simple question of whether my $18K Plat Plus account could ever switch to a World account. (Don't know that I'd do it, because of the reporting problems, but it's nice to know you're eligible.)

We went all around the planet, several times, and all he really wanted to do was to sell me a new account, obviously to pad his productivity report.

With BofA, it's all about hang up and try again. Try asking for a credit specialist. I was at work, and I could feel all the ears leaning in from adjoining cubicles, so I chose not to escalate. Smiley Wink
