BOA got unsecured, annual fee / CL remains same, only way to get out of this is to close account?

Hello guys,

I asked BOA to unsecure my secured credit card ($300 CL, opened in January, Oldest CC) manually, and I heard it has been successfully unsecured.

I still saw $39 annual fee and same CL so I asked CR about it and they said only way to get rid of it is closing account and open a new one.

Did anyone have same situation as I am having right now?

Any comment would be appreciated,

Possible options:

1) Close account, open a new account?

2) Talk to BOA through Facbook? (Escalation to higher level of support?)

3) Wait till card to hit 1 year mark and see what's gonna happen?

Ugh! I thought it would be automatically converted and get credit increase! Smiley Mad

btw, I recently got approved with 2 credit cards yesterday. (Citi Forward($2,400CL) & ChaseAmazonreward ($700CL)) so I'm trying to avoid hard pull

There was a thread about this they were able to get their unsecured card fee waive.

Called backdoor number and they told me that they weren't able to remove fee, but converting it would remove the fee

but when I had a conversation with specialist on website, they said converting it would not remove annual fee

now... gotta try BOA facebook & PM through BOA website...

will update soon Smiley Frustrated

With those recent approvals and that low $300 limit, it may serve you better to open a new BOA cc and close that one. I hate AFs unless Im getting crazy goid rewards for it.

Well, meanwhile

I will gather some information about closing account.

- BoA Accelerated Rewards (Amex)

- BoA Travel Rewards for Students

- BoA Better Balance Rewards (Going to open up BoA checking to get $5 more)

I'm guessing Better Balance Reward is great option for right now, What do you think?
