I got a BT offer on my rewards card, it's cruddy, 0% until 6/16 with a 1% transfer fee, but hey, it's something.
I have a PIF balance with them so they may be requesting some activity on the card by doing this.
either way, I have some balances on other cards that will exist even after the 0% runs out so I wanted to balance transfer in November, hopefully to a Barclays ring (score dependent, last time I checked 702, probably a little higher now)or another Barclays card that offers 0% APR on BT for 15 months.
so my question becomes would it be a good move or bad move to transfer a small balance (1500) over to my rewards (4350 CL) before applying with them for a new card in November?
A 1% BT Fee for a 6 month 0% APR is not at all cruddy. It's a very good deal in fact.
What is cruddy is paying 3% or 4% in a BT fee for 6 months.
Do the BT. I really doubt it is going to affect your next app with Barclays. If anything, it starts to show them usage and payments by the time your November app comes around.
Thank you for the insight!! I have a personal struggle with this card. I got it in 2013 with a 500 CL. I've always had the 24.99 interest rate which irks me and I am so careful to never incur interest with them.
i go back and forth on what to do with it. I cut it up, I don't even have it anymore. I do need to BT for a little activity.
im doing it!!!
thank you😀
It's a good BT offer.
I don't understand why people cut up an active card. I just don't get it.
Enjoy the BT savings, and good luck with the next app!
Thank you!

BT increase internal score with Barclay, and inactivity decrease it, i suggest you do it.
+1
Yep, they love BTs. I also like that you can deposit directly into your checking account and that you can make new purchases without incurring interest as long as you PIF new purchases. I wish all lenders adopted Barclay's BT policies.
There is not enough discussion about internal scores. people talk about certain trends, luv for capital one and so on, and I think some people have better insight. I agree that Barclays likes lots of money moving in and out and it doesn't matter of the balance transfer a car down payment or anything else

I do it all the time. If I don't plan on keeping it for long I don't even want it taking up space
