Balance Transfer card options?

OK, first, I KNOW that I need to be in the garden club...

What I'd like to find is a balance transfer card with 0 percent for x months that I can open and pay off other (higher interest) cards with.

I've got the credit scores (High 600's) and no baddies on EX or EQ. (TU will be clean in November.)

I've been denied for having too many open trade lines and high utilization.

Well, duh.

The point is to have fewer cards with larger limits...thus reducing both the number of open trade lines and my utilization.

Methinks that I'm stuck where I'm at for the moment, but I figure if ANYBODY knows of a bank that offers a card to fit my unique situation, (and would approve me for it...) it would be somebody on here.

Any ideas?

Re: Balance Transfer card options?

What are your scores?

Citi usually offers decent balance transfer options.  I got their Diamond Preferred  in May with 0% through February 2013.  Barclays has some too but theirs are shorter.  Make sure you read if there's a transfer fee.  What do your reports look like?

Re: Balance Transfer card options?

EX= 677, EQ=652, TU=677  (All lender pulls)

EX and EQ are clean and show lots and lots of current, never late, well paid accounts.

TU shows all of the above...as well as a BK from 2004 that will fall off somewhere next month.

Chase said, NO.  (utilization and inq's)

Barclays said, NO.  (utilization and inq's)

I think Citi pulls TU and will say no when they see the BK...  ?

Re: Balance Transfer card options?

Funny this was posted, as I was wondering the same thing. Citi denied me, I'm thinking of going with Bank of America...

Have you tried a recon with Chase and let them know that you are doing it for BT??? They may actually approve you if you explain that.

Yes, I did, and no, they won't.  Very sweet and polite CSR on the phone agreed with the logic and everything that I stated.  She also informed me that utilization was still somewhere around 64%, and she'd be happy to open a recon, but that I would be denied again.

I apped with BofA the other day and got the 7-10 day message.  I'm not optimistic.  Smiley Sad

Re: Balance Transfer card options?

Oh man... Have you tried a credit union??? From my reads on here they seem to be pretty flexible with limits and such. The ones that I looked into dont have the BT fees, but they also dont have the 0% APR specials. Let us know what you come up with! Good luck! I'm anxious to know what you go with.

Re: Balance Transfer card options?

How much credit card debt do you owe and what are your other credit limits?

I did my Citi app on the phone (not normal for me, I think it was a preapproval) with a live person and I got to tell him everything and ask who they were pulling.  They pulled Equifax for me in NY.  They pulled EQ two other times for me back in August 2010 and separately for their Shell card that I was approved for.
