Balance Transfers Please Help

How long does a Balance Transfer take in paying off a credit card.

I recently was able to acquire a BT from chase and i want to pay off my hsbc card. The hsbc card is due 4/21 and i just got the card today.

Will the BT pay it in time before the due date. Also I want to use it to pay off my BofA card and this card is due 4/17.

Thanks appreciate all the feedback with your experience.

Re: Balance Transfers Please Help

I've done some (to a Barclays card) and it took about a week.  If you read the fine print though, it may say up to 30 days.  If it's right before the due date and you do not see the reflected BT yet, I would be prepared to pay the minimum.

Re: Balance Transfers Please Help

Thanks clock for your response, I have a week and half before the cards are due. I just don't want to miss the due date.

Does chase allow you to direct deposit the money into your chase checking account immediately to allow you to pay off the credit cards?

I heard citi allows this, I just don't know about chase. I guess I will ask when I get home tonight and call them up

Re: Balance Transfers Please Help

Make sure to make your minimum payments.  Worst case scenario is your payment and the BT payment overlap and you overpay the card.  You should be able to get them to cut you a check for the overage.  But you don't want to mess around and miss a payment and get hit with a late fee.  If you haven't seen the BT go through by your due date, make a payment online for at least the minimum.
