Anyone else have a successful PC with Chase recently?
Just got off the phone with Chase and I'm annoyed for sure.
I have held a Slate card with them for 1.5 years or so. Just a month before my one year date I called asking for a PC to Freedom and the phone person told me that I was ineligible until my Slate account was a year old. I finally called again today to ask, and the phone person told me that I am ineligible but I will get a letter in the mail that will allow me to apply for the Freedom card. This is IN ADDITION to my Slate card. So I cannot product change. I just have to open an additional account with them. This is bananas. Now I have to decide if I just sock drawer the card now, or close the account since I anticipate I will NEVER WANT to use this card. I run $5/mo through it on a subscription service and that's it. I guess I could continue that until infinity.
I guess Bank of America is getting my application. If they're willing to give me their cash rewards card at an 12.99% APR, forget Chase Slate at 22.99%. That's an even higher APR than my Kohl's card. Ridiculous.
Transunion FICO: 730 (Mid May 2012).
Maybe you got one of their regular front line CSRs who doesn't have the authority to PC from one card to another. I think maybe you need to speak with someone higher up the chain. From everything I've read on this website, after one full year's time, you can indeed do a product change from Slate to Freedom. I don't think you were speaking with the right person.
You could try sending a Secure Message... I've used that method to PC several times. Just recently had them change my Freedom MC to a Freedom VISA...
There's more to eligibility than just the 1 year mark. I would have them sent you the letter stating the reason you aren't eligible then go from there.
You can try going into a Chase banking center and asking for a PC there. I couldn't change my Freedom to a CSP but the rep told me the people at the banking centers have more authority in these things.
I was able to PC from Slate to Freedom just yesterday by sending a secure message through my Chase online account.
I would call their Exec line and talk to someone about it.
Was the $5 a month charge the only thing you ever put through the Slate?
