I can't find the post, but I heard that if you are requesting it unsecure it's a hp.  If they do it on their own it's not.  I'm not sure how much truth there is to that but it makes sense.

Re: Bank of America secured card annual review

Heres my two cents on the situation. No one knows what is going on at BOA for the secured card. Funny story, about 11 months into my secured card with them I called the EO office, (actually recorded the call) and the lady said that and i quote, "i should let her pull my credit now because boa will pull it automatically at 12 months." My response was your incorrect she then began to argue with me. So I waited the extra month gave it even actually a couple weeks to see if i would get  a hp nothing happened. So i call the eo back speak to the same lady and she was basically speechless when i told her my credit was not pulled and kept on insisting that boa pull my credit. Heres the thing i dont really care about the HP that much its just the fact that the sallie mae card is 1 million times better than the boa 123 card. And if you think you can get approved to unsecure the boa you can almost definitely get the sallie mae card. I loved the boa when i was rebuilding it is a great card for that but its not worth two HP if you ask me when sallie mae is just that much better. Hope this helps.

As someone who just got a manual graduation last month, I can tell you it is definitely a hard pull. What the credit analyst didn't tell me is that you can PC to a different card if your graduation is approved. I just PC'd to the 123 card. They also gave me a $3K CL up from the $700 I original put on there. Don't be afraid to ask for a larger increase.

Re: Bank of America secured card annual review

Bank of America is definitely generous with their Credit limits from my experience . Got declined for the MLB card but Reconed the card expecting if approved a $500 limit which I am fine with because I really wanted a Mastercard in my wallet and that fit the bill perfectly. Got approved for a Credit limit of $2,500 which is $2000 more then I thought I would get Smiley Happy
