Barclay Consolidation

Has anyone ever tried, or had any luck consolidating credit lines with Barclays?

Chase was great with it, but their CS is a lot better than Barclays from my experience.

Let me know please. Smiley Happy

Re: Barclay Consolidation

You would likely need to contact the Barclay's BDN to accomplish this.  You can shift the CL from the card you are intending to close to the donor card.  Bear in mind, it still might leave $500 on the card you are moving the CL from depending on the product type.

That's how Chase worked. Thank you. Smiley Happy

Re: Barclay Consolidation

I recently had success in moving the CL from my 11 month old Rewards MC to my 3 month old Ring card. I also went ahead and closed the Rewards MC as well as I no longer had use for it.

Re: Barclay Consolidation

Yes. I called the number on the back of my card and the CSR told me it couldn't be done. Then I called the backdoor number that connects you directly to the credit dept. and they did it without any issue. The number is 1-866-408-4064.

Re: Barclay Consolidation

I consolidated both my Barclay cards  (Apple & US Air) this morning to Arrival.

First I called Barclay's back-door # to have my $2k Apple credit line transferred to my US Air  $4k taking it to $6k and closing the Apple card, although it still shows $500 available credit, the CA said that's just a formality before they close it out to zero.

I called back a second time to PC to Arrival, this was a bit more challenging!

The rep Initially said I could not do it and I said I travel internatioally and would never use the US Air card overseas with a 3% transaction fee.

I'm immediately transferred to the Retention department and made it clear that I didn't want a hard pull (inquiry) to move forward. The specialist said he could switch me to the Arrival World Mastercard with no annual fee or credit inquiry and if I wanted to pursue the Arrival+  he would have to pull a hard inquiry.

I would normally had let him but I'm doing a mortgage refi next month. Interestingly, he told me that he soft-pulled Experian, I thought Barclay's used TU exclusively?

So in a nutshell, it can be done!

Finally, he mentioned I would receive 5k bonus miles and I asked if he could bump it up to 10k? (half of the 20k offered for new customers) he said he will notate this request  to the underwriting department. So I'm guaranteed 5k hoping for 10k bonus!

Hope this info helps.
